PRIZE The first runner-up will be awarded the symbolic “Raymond Murray Schafer” prize, plaque and honorable mention, publication of the work in an album/disc with the official selection of LANDSCAPE2024. The prize is dedicated to the Canadian composer, writer, music educator and environmentalist perhaps best known for his World Soundscape Project, concern for acoustic ecology, and his book The Tuning of the World.
Death and Rebirth of the Landscape
LANDSCAPE2024, now in its fourth year, is an international call for sound and video artists to reflect on the theme of landscape through the submission of experimental works.
In an era of rapid environmental and social change, landscape assumes a role of primary importance as a place of memory, identity and connection with nature. The call aims to explore the different facets of the contemporary landscape, interrogating its changing nature and multiple implications.
The first 10 selected works will be published within a limited edition album released by Zeugma. In addition, the selection will circulate within Zeugma’s social channels giving them maximum visibility.
2. Themes
Proposed works should explore the theme of landscape in a broad sense, including but not limited to:
Natural and man-made landscapes: the dichotomy between nature and culture, human impact on the environment, urban and territorial regeneration.
Soundscapes: landscape perception through the sounds connected to our memory and imagination, construction of new landscape aesthetics.
Real and imaginary landscapes: the relationship between man and the environment, the construction of identities and cultures linked to the territory, the dreamlike and symbolic dimension of the landscape.
Landscapes in transformation: the evolution of landscape over time, the impact of climate change, environmental and social sustainability
